Igor and the Twisted Tales of Castlemaine by Richard L Markworth and Ian J Walls takes you beyond the story of Frankenstein. Igor has had enough. After spending years being bullied and tortured by his master, he finally walks away. He just wants a peaceful life, but it wasn't meant to be. As he reaches a cursed village called Castlemaine, hidden in the Carpathians, he meets a beautiful woman called Esmerelda. She's the daughter of the innkeeper, a homicidal maniac, and it's hard for her to keep her violent side hidden sometimes. Igor and Esmeralda can't seem to stay out of trouble. Dark, evil forces haunt Castlemaine, and there are monsters everywhere. It's not the best place to settle down, but Igor and Esmerelda are determined to make a go of it. But first, they have to fight zombies, spirits, monsters, murderers, and even a strangely horrifying nun. Can they bring peace to Castlemaine?

Igor and the Twisted Tales of Castlemaine by Richard L Markworth and Ian J Walls is a fantastically funny story written in a combination of modern and classic. If you have ever read Frankenstein and have spent time wondering what happened to Igor, well, now you know! This is not for the squeamish, but it is an engaging tale, a series of five separate adventures, some gory, as you would expect with a horror story, and with plenty of humor, double entendres, and a little swearing. The characters are amazing – you can picture them in your mind's eye – and you'll be left in no doubt as to who they are and what makes them tick. If you love horror stories and you loved reading Frankenstein, this is definitely the book for you.

Superbly crafted and written. My long suffering wife had to put up with me reading out particularly funny sections every few minutes
