Two villains must deal with other, much more intelligent characters in the two stories collected in Bullies vs the Bold by Chip Colquhoun. In the first story, a greedy leopard puts the jungle at risk, so the animals decide to make a deal with him to save their home. Things appear to take a turn for the worse when Loris arrives late for his scheduled meeting with the leopard. Will Loris be able to free the jungle from the evil creature? In the second tale, Farmer Rob is struggling with a domineering boggard, with whom he makes three pacts to divide the harvest. Will Farmer Rob rid the village of the boggard's annoying presence?

It was a lot of fun to read Bullies vs the Bold. Chip Colquhoun skillfully narrated the two stories, highlighting how being evil and arrogant can be turned to your disadvantage when you meet someone smarter than you. You can't help siding with Loris and Farmer Rob, and I was favorably impressed by their cleverness. These are the best characters to find in children's stories because they offer an example of how you can use your mind. The illustrations by Korky Paul and Mario Coelho are beautiful and make reading even more exciting because they accurately capture the pivotal moments of the stories. I highly recommend Bullies vs the Bold to all those parents looking for books that can inspire young readers through the actions of intelligent characters. This is a special gift you can give to them.
