Brianna L. DeVore's 12 Women In the Arts: Women Who Changed The World introduces readers to 12 women who rose to prominence in the world of arts and made lasting contributions with their creativity. Ananya Chatterjea and ADT (Ananya Dance Theatre), Lorraine Hansberry and her first play, A Raisin In The Sun (the first play written by an African American and produced on Broadway), Faith Ringgold, an African American writer and visual artist, and the rest of the women in this book will inspire readers to pursue the arts and make their voices heard with their amazing works. Let's find out who the other women are whose contributions in the arts have challenged stereotypes and overcome barriers. The book gives fascinating facts, interesting biographical details and wonderful pictures of these 12 women that will encourage readers to pursue the arts and take these to another level where their aesthetics and creativity will be appreciated.

Brianna L. DeVore's 12 Women In the Arts: Women Who Changed The World is informative and educational and apart from the 12 women, it also features a few other women who never got the distinction they deserved. All the titles in this series are about women achievers in various fields and their contributions in a field previously dominated by men. It is a good collection for school and public libraries, and personal collections in homes. Books like this give young readers knowledge in an entertaining way and introduce them to women whose lasting contributions in various fields have left an indelible mark on the world.
