A Closer Walk with God is an in depth analysis of the way for a Christian to commune with God. In general, persons are encouraged to have an exhilarating relationship with Him. Author Henry Miranda begins his book with a quotation from the Book of 1 John. He emphasizes the fact that man was formed by God to have continuous fellowship with Him. God always knows what our needs are. This truth is illustrated by the revelation that God created Eve to be a companion for Adam. In addition, the author said that sin can temporarily separate us from pursuing God’s will for our lives. For example, we might get caught up in our work and recreational activities and forget about reading the Bible. As Christians, we are encouraged to put God first. It won’t be easy but the author guarantees a satisfying life when a person proceeds to walk the Christian path.

A Closer Walk with God is a down to earth source of encouragement. It is not the typical Christian book filled with dry Bible passages that would bore you to death. It is very practical, giving insight into the intricacies of the Christian walk of faith. The tone is a conversational one. The language used is semi-formal to reflect the serious message that author Henry Miranda conveys. I love the fact that the chapters are short and contain biblical passages for further reflection. The author does not pull the wool over readers’ eyes and make them feel that the Christian life would be an easy one. I appreciate his honesty in this regard. He explores the theme of good overcoming evil in a tasteful manner. I also love the fact that the author encourages us to be vigilant in this life in terms of guarding our thought life and daily habits. This book is a true source of spiritual fulfillment. I recommend it to all readers.
