A First Grade Fatality by Tim Harrington is a murder mystery. Diane Fallon is a first-grade teacher; part of a band of teachers who get together outside of school. When Carrie Landry fails to turn up for a scheduled meal, Diane is right to be worried. Carrie’s body is found at the bottom of her stairs, seemingly an accident, but Diane doesn’t think so. Things don’t add up. There’s the missing hat, the coat hung in the wrong place, and Carrie’s new boyfriend. Then there are the notes and phone calls that Diane gets, warning her to leave things alone. Diane starts wondering exactly what is going on, whether it could be one of her co-workers or whether it really was an accident. Continuing to investigate following a final chilling warning, even Diane could never have guessed the truth.

I got well and truly stuck into A First Grade Fatality by Tim Harrington. The whole story was exceptionally well written, the plot masterful and the characters very colorful and likeable. The story is a real murder mystery with plenty of light humor thrown in for good measure. It ran its course naturally, and was action all the way. I thought it was a very clever plot and there is no way I would have guessed the truth! In fact, I’m not sure anyone would. There are lots of different things going on in this book; not just the death but the mystery that surrounds it, the man with Alzheimer’s, the married man, the strange neighbor, and a few other things that, if I were to say more, would give things away. Anyone who picks this book up will not be sorry and they will enjoy the read.
