A Journey to Mouseling Hollow by Robert C. Feol is the first book of the Fabled Two series. King Teegan has a secret that only a few close to him know. A long time ago, talking mice were directly responsible for helping to save the kingdom. After discovering the Decoding Stones, the key to the communication between animals and humans was obtained. A bond with the king's family had given both the Mouselings and the humans an advantage when a dark sorcerer invaded and found a way to place humans under his control. The Rat King eventually saw defeat when he went up against two unknown Mouseling warriors. In the present day, Robert Teague is just a simple innkeeper whose whole life changes when he receives a mysterious summons that sends him on an adventure far away from his haven of Mousling Hollow. A threat emerges that places Robert and those closest to him in danger, and Robert is their only hope to save the day.

The format of the story adds to the richness of the epic fantasy genre that Robert C. Feol brings to life in this unique tale about mice and men. The world of Mouseling Hollow is rich in details that deliver a vivid culture and setting that immerse you in every moment of the story. Each element of the world, from the inn to the food of the Yuletide Feast, presents vivid descriptions of the scenery, whether it's roasted meat pies and Mousebrook Pudding or conversing with a snake. The world is an example of high fantasy excellence with a unique twist that revolves around the communication between humans and animals, with mice as the primary characters in the middle. The writing style contributes to the world that Feol has created, with each legend giving a thorough history of the setting with the legend of the Fabled Two and how they defeated the Rat King forming a vital element of the story. Robert Teague is at the center of the adventure that unfolds, which all starts with a mysterious stranger.

The story runs on pure imagination while still maintaining a grounded tone and encompasses elements of epic fantasy with the characters preparing for a battle. The story weaves in subtle instances of humor, such as the younger mice with their energetic physique and short attention spans, which adds to the energy and spirit of the mice. The black and white illustrations woven throughout match the story's tone with dark hues and shading that capture various moments. A Journey to Mouseling Hollow is an unforgettable epic fantasy that delivers adventure and a rich world driven by mice fighting against a dangerous threat.
