A Life Unexpected: Holly Nather Book 1 by Sara Daniell is a young adult fantasy that takes an ordinary, normal girl and throws her into a magical world. Holly is a typical college student. She goes to her classes, hangs out with friends and spends too much time on social media. Her life is somewhat boring, routine, and typical. She doesn't expect it to be any different.
Then she meets Luke and everything turns upside down. Luke brings an excitement and craziness into Holly's life that explodes when she learns about the world of magic. Luke introduces her to the world of Terre and the reader is thrust into this magical world, too, as Holly discovers more and more around every corner. But with knowledge comes power and then danger, as Holly is quick to discover. Suddenly her life is chaotic and dangerous, something she never imagined could actually happen in her dull, boring life. But so much hinges on what is happening around her and the ultimate choice that has be made.
This is a cool fantasy story that also has strong romantic elements. Readers will love being dropped into the world of Terre. Because, like Holly, readers have never experienced this world and get to experience it first hand with Holly. This was fantastically written and one of my favorite parts of the story. The descriptions, setting, and world building were so strong that readers of this genre will love it.
