A Life With You by Roy Miller is a series of short stories, moments really, that detail a particular aspect of living for the author. Most of the pieces are barely more than a paragraph, you have to read closely to ensure you don't miss the point: life is happening all around us and is worth living. While each of the moments builds a picture of someone's ordinary life, you wonder how they are connected, what happened to the characters, and where the story is moving. I like how each piece is focused on the little moments that build up over time and become sort of defining moments in any given couple's relationship.

A Life With You is not going to take up hours of your time to read. Clocking in at 79 pages, this is a short and sweet slice of someone else's life that you can get caught up with for a moment and then move on. It was very different. You find yourself asking, "Is this poetry? Is this a short story? What is this?" But if this is a short story, the prose is very flowing and lyrical like a poem. If this is a poem, it's got no formal structure and focuses on aspects you wouldn't come to expect from a poet. Roy Miller clearly invested some heart and soul into A Life With You and he did a great job. This is something sweet to consider with your partner and a nice, relaxing, easy read for all.
