A Pale Horse is a contemporary Christian novel. It is Michelle Sullivan’s first installment in the ARC series. The story is adapted from the blend of canon Bible stories and marginal apocryphal writings like the book of Enoch. When the ‘Master’ created the earth. everything was perfect until man sinned and was thrown out of the garden of Eden. In the following years, the watchers emerged, a group of angelic beings who had been sent to look after lost mankind. They took for themselves wives and begot monstrous Nephilim hybrids. These Nephilim became humanity's biggest enemy and threatened human existence. Thus the ‘Master’ brought a great flood that swept the whole earth. Unfortunately, the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim did not die off but remained on the earth in a different form.

The title of the book, A Pale Horse, is a play on the first horse of the Bible Book of Revelation, chapter 4, which marks the beginning of the end of days. For people who like reading stories about angels and the end of the world, this is the book for you. Michelle Sullivan introduces the reader to several humans who have been chosen to help fight the Nephilim. Peter who had a near-death experience when he was young, Maggie who was once kidnapped by child traffickers, and Abe an ex-military pilot. These three had interesting backgrounds but they all had one thing in common when they learned about the monsters hiding on earth. Who wants to learn that vampires, werewolves, and all the scary myths are all real? I loved the way they pulled together in order to help the angels. If you're not too fussy about doctrine, PaleHorse is an enjoyable well-written book.

Great fun and some seriously compelling characters.
