Author Biography

Mariana Llanos writes poetry and short stories since she was very young. In her native Lima, Peru, she explored her interest in the performing arts. She now lives in Oklahoma with her husband and their three children, who inspire her to create touching stories. She works at a preschool where she likes to motivate children through music and art. Her first book, Tristan Wolf, was published early in 2013 and it’s getting great reviews. It was also a finalist of the 2013 Readers' Favorite Awards! Now, in A Planet for Tristan Wolf, Mariana takes us one more time to the world of this imaginative boy and his adventures. The art of Rocio Perez Del Solar makes this a beautiful book that will spark creativity and entertain children and adults alike. As Mariana would say: “Let your imagination go wild!”

A Planet for Tristan Wolf by Mariana Llanos is the adventure story of Tristan Wolf and his friend, Red. Bored with his life and fed up with sharing his room with his brother Billy, Tristan leaves his home. He is looking for a new life and he runs away to another planet with his best friend, Red. The new planet is a bit different and the inhabitants there are in shades of green. It has no sun and the weirdest of everything is that they react strangely in Red's presence. Tristan realizes that it is not the place to be and he and his friend must get back to Earth as soon as possible. Will he be able to get out of Planet Orb safely with Red?

It is an adventure story that all children will love to read. The imaginary place, Planet Orb, which is a fake planet with no plants and no animals is highly exciting and creative. Tristan's character is lovable. Tristan realizes that everything on the planet is fake. He starts missing Earth, the greenery, the trees, the flowers, and all the beautiful sights. Tristan begins to miss his family and friends. The book is full of surprises, unexpected turns, and exciting moments. The illustrations in the story are colorful and they add to the story. The visuals breathe life into the story and the characters. It is a perfect story for children, filled with imagination and creativity. This adventure/sci-fi story will excite all young readers.
