"A Quest for Skye" follows Drs. Morgan and Tammy Hamilton as they board a cruise after learning they will not be able to have children. That is where they meet nine year old Skye who is instantly drawn to them and they are captivated by her. Months later, they get a secretive message to come to Greece at the request of Skye's father. They are overjoyed to be reunited with Skye again, but are concerned with all of the secrets on the island where she lives. When they are asked to completely turn their lives upside down, they must decide if they are willing to do anything to protect this little girl they have grown to love. Despite the tragedy they know will be coming, they learn that God is in control and miracles really do happen.

J.L. Rothdiener hooked me in the very first few pages of "A Quest for Skye". After reading the first chapter, I knew what would be coming and could not wait to find out how the story evolved to that point. A main theme of the story is that everything happens for a reason. At the beginning of the book life is bleak for this couple, but by the conclusion they come to see that if any one thing would have been different they never would have met Skye and got to share in her life. Even though there is pain, taking the risk and loving made them better. The heartbreak at the end made me cry, but the miracle that followed gave me hope. I am anxiously looking forward to reading another Rothdiener novel.
