Author Biography

Thom Gordon is a contradiction. As a technophile, engineer and computer specialist, he used his expertise to advance the capabilities of resource companies in Canada, Texas and the Middle East. His passion has also been to create, improve and restore many of the clever gadgets and gizmos that make life on this planet bearable.

As a dreamer and the owner of a rather wild imagination, he has long sought a means to inspire and encourage others. Using the least of his skills, namely writing, he aspires to transcend time and space to leave the remnants of his thoughts as rich fertilizer for other ebullient minds. Or perhaps, in layman’s terms, simply to give those who may be overwhelmed with boredom some harmless lunacy to occupy their time rather than having them try and, ultimately, fail to accomplish, through their own endeavors, any manner of noble mortal benefit.

Abruption is a work of fiction in the action, contemporary thriller, and terrorism sub-genres, and it is the first novel in the Broken Gladiator Series penned by author Thom Gordon. Written for adult reading audiences, the work does contain the use of explicit language, graphic violence appropriate to the premise, and some sexual situations. Our intrepid protagonists are Chris Townsend and Zoe Aston, thrown together in the wake of a terrifying attack that not only collapses an American city but also the peace talks surrounding it in the wider world. As the clock ticks down and the investigation deepens, Chris and Zoe will discover there’s so much more than meets the eye in this international action-packed thriller.

Author Thom Gordon has crafted a truly suspenseful work that will be sure to give terrorist thriller fans everything they could possibly want from their reading experience. With a great plotline in the big picture that follows international politics and the impact of terror on the wider world, the novel also blends the individual stories of our dual protagonists together, giving a face to the investigation. I liked the variation in settings as new vistas come and go during the investigation, which kept the threads of the mystery fresh and intriguing as different clues appeared. The dialogue too was very well crafted to bring exposition about in a lively way and move the plot on without slowing the pace. Overall, I would highly recommend Abruption for readers seeking a great balance of slow-burning thriller mystery and high octane action.
