It is amazing who you can meet on an airplane and what the result of such an encounter might be. Such is the case in Adventures of the Moment: The Writer's Collector's Edition by Golden November, where a man named Gannon serendipitously meets Electra, a woman he begins to chat with and is ultimately seated next to him on the flight. It's Gannon's birthday and is also day zero of Gannon and his girlfriend breaking up. Electra is from a family of winemakers and, after bonding with Gannon, invites him to join her at the family estate. What follows next, when Electra takes over Gannon's former girlfriend's ticket for a mystery adventure, is the kind of thing you tell future grandkids. But first, you've got to survive the darn thing, and buying it still doesn't guarantee that it will happen.

Golden November is a unique writer with an entirely distinctive book format. Adventures of the Moment is written as a script where readers read the scenes out loud. The more readers, the merrier, and we have a custom now of inviting friends over for dinner and then verbally acting out November's latest and greatest. Or at least what is new to us. The deadpan comedy is the best part. November has a caustic sense of humor that reminds me of Aubrey Plaza in Parks and Recreation. Instead of superfluous written descriptions of every scene, November includes a full-color photo of where the characters are. This orientates the minds of readers and allows for the reading to continue uninterrupted, except for intermittent bursts of laughter. Very highly recommended.

Adventures of the Moment: The Writer's Collector's Edition is a romantic odyssey into the unknown by Golden November. After breaking up with his girlfriend on his birthday, Gannon is itching for an adventure. Having already booked himself two tickets for a mystery trip vacation, Gannon heads to the airport, where he meets Electra while waiting for their flight to Synonymville. Soon sparks fly, and Gannon and Electra find themselves completely enamored with each other. After meeting Electra's family in Synonymville, Gannon and Electra embark on their romantic mystery trip to the unknown. Along the way, they meet and befriend other tourists, who have their own stories to tell. But the little group runs into trouble when the travel company leaves them stranded in a blizzard. Will Gannon and Electra find their happy ending and return home safely?

Adventures of the Moment is delightfully strange and full of romance, drama, and friendly banter. Despite the unorthodox and non-traditional narrative style, the slice-of-life feel of the story and the palpable chemistry between the main characters make the book thoroughly immersive to read. Gannon and Electra's relationship is the primary focus of the narrative, and the other characters revolve around them. Apart from a couple of characters taken from the other books written by Golden November, the author also inserts himself into the story. A spur-of-the-moment decision to take a chance and venture into the unknown allows Gannon to find the love of his life. If you're also searching for something original and unique, I suggest this book.

Adventures of the Moment: The Writer's Collector's Edition carries on the unique storytelling narrative style by Golden November. It is Gannon’s birthday, and he is supposed to be at a celebratory party in his honor, but instead, he is at the airport going on a mystery trip. His girlfriend Amber is supposed to be here, but since they broke up, Gannon is alone. With a spare ticket and not much time left, Gannon boards the plane and meets Electra. They talk, a bond is formed, and the two decide to go on the mystery trip together. However, neither of them is prepared for what this mystery trip to Synonymville will entail for them.

This review is going to be a little biased because I love Golden November. His writing style is unique, no-nonsense, and to the point. His novels are the perfect example of “sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.” Much like his other novels in Milestoneville, there are no descriptions, only dialogues and a singular picture on top of the dialogues to show where the characters are and what they are doing. It is truly astonishing how Golden November can create whole character portraits with just dialogues. Each character has a distinct style of how they speak and emote. Somehow, Golden November can convey the intentions, emotions, and directives behind each action of a character with simple dialogues. As always, the setting is perfect, the characters are incredible, and the dry humor is enough to keep you in a calm and happy mood all day long.
