Author Biography

Jennifer Wallis is a school social worker at an early childhood center for the Fox C-6 School District in Arnold, MO. She has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Saint Louis University and teaches adjunct for local colleges and universities.

Jennifer lives in Arnold, Missouri with her husband and biggest supporter, Nick, and her two daughters, Adelynn, age 4, and Faith, age 2.

Jennifer had a dolphin encounter on a family vacation at the age of 19 with a dolphin named Scarlet. It was then she came up with the idea for "Adventures with Scarlet the Dolphin." However it was not until she had children of her own that she took the time to start writing. Nothing has given Jennifer more joy than reading the book she wrote to her own daughters.

The second book of the Scarlet the Dolphin series, "Adventures with Scarlet the Dolphin: California Sea Lions", is currently in the process of being published and will be released in early summer of 2012.

The book "Adventures with Scarlet the Dolphin: Green Sea Turtles" by author Jennifer Wallis is a deep sea ocean adventure about a young girl named Hailey and her very best friend, a dolphin by the name of Scarlet. Hailey and her friend Scarlet embark on many adventures together. One day, Scarlet the dolphin takes young Hailey on a new and exciting wondrous adventure to meet her friend Link, the endangered Green Sea Turtle who mostly lives in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Hawaii. Hailey, with the help of her new friends, learn all kinds of interesting facts about her new friend Link the Green Sea Turtle, as well as play games with him.

"Adventures with Scarlet the Dolphin: Green Sea Turtles" was very informative and interesting and it brings the oceanic life of sea animals to life. The author also gave simple but easy to understand facts about the Green Sea Turtle that were also very descriptive. It made learning about the life span and the life process of the green sea turtles interesting without being bogged down with too many detailed facts.

This book will also help to familiarize children with social and emotional developmental themes, friendships and relationships, and with scientific and mathematical concepts. I also really enjoyed the 'Finding Nemoesque' quality of the illustrations that were bright, vivid, colorful and aesthetically pleasing. I recommend this book for children who are looking for ocean adventures with new sea animal friends.
