Four year-old Alice is always lonely, and she wants a baby brother or sister so much that she prays for just that each night. On this one certain night, Alice thinks she hears someone calling her name, someone just barely whispering. She soon discovers a green bedbug named Herman in her room. After hearing Alice’s prayer about being lonely, Herman wants to be her friend and play with her. The only thing is, Alice needs to utter Herman’s magical phrase in order for it to become like Herman. Well, Alice utters the magic phrase, and the fun begins. Alice and Herman are just adorable! The bedbug story is sweet and cute, taking a child’s imagination on the ride of a lifetime. Along the way you will meet the big black bird Buddha, Roly Poly, just a bug, Gracie the grasshopper and Adam the ant. One thing is very clear, Alice is no longer lonely. She now has a host of characters that love her, and want to play with her and be her friends.

Along with the cute story, the illustrations are very cute as well. The unique cover will capture young children’s attention on the shelves, wanting a copy for themselves. I like the building on the main green and pink colors. The characters and child-like, and the houses and their insides are illustrated in such a way that children will love looking at the pages. And I love the ending which is: “Good Night. Sleep Tight; Don’t worry about any Bedbug bites!”
