Readers looking for a thrilling fantasy adventure need look no further than D. Maria Trimble’s Amane of Teravinea. Amane has always been fascinated by the songs and stories of old that depicted the quests of dragon riders of the past. Hearing of their adventures makes her long for her own adventure and to soar the skies on the back of her own majestic dragon. But the time of the dragon has long passed, none have been seen for years, and the corrupt King Galtero has gone so far as to try to rewrite history, banishing the memory of dragons into the realm of myths. All of this changes when she finds her own dragon, Eshshah, who is a descendant from a long line of dragons sworn to protect the true royal bloodline. Amane soon learns the path of a Chosen One is full of danger, but with her new-found companion she will face her coming adventures with steady resolve. Pick up a copy of Amane of Teravinea and soar along with Amane and Eshshah as they take their first steps toward pulling the kingdom of Teravinea from the depths of corruption.

Amane is a heroine that a reader can get behind and root for. She is strong, brave, and loyal, definitely a role model for young adult readers. The concept of the dragon and dragon rider bond adds a unique element to the story that makes this an adventure unlike others I have read. Amane of Teravinea was a wonderfully enjoyable book that made me run a full gamut of emotions, from thrills to chills to laughter and love. The only disappointment I have after reading D. Maria Trimble’s wonderful story is that I must wait to hear more of Amane’s adventures. I expect an exciting epic to be awaiting this heroine, and I can’t wait to learn what it entails. I highly recommend Amane of Teravinea for any reader looking for their next adventure, and I will be waiting with bated breath to continue the journey.

Amane of Teravinea – The Chosen One, by D. Maria Trimble, is the exceptional story of a young woman and the dragon, Eshshah, she becomes linked with on her fifteenth birthday. After the passing of her mother, Amane goes to a cove where she and her mother used to picnic. As she readies to do a memorial ceremony, one of the 'stones' of her campfire hatches, and a baby dragon emerges. The dragon bites her, injecting a powerful venom. Amane barely survives this bite, and in doing so, is marked by the dragon as its rider, and links them together for life. Unbeknownst to Amane, this is only prophesy being fulfilled and as she returns to The Healer, her mom's best friend, she is told of her destiny. The first part of this is to save Ansel from a dungeon deep within the castle occupied by the usurper who murdered all of the royal family except Ansel, and seized the throne for himself. The Healer had kept the prince hidden for seventeen years, but now is the time to return him as king. With her dragon to aid her, Amane is determined to carry out her duty to the true heir – no matter the cost.

Amane of Teravinea – The Chosen One is an engrossing tale. Author D. Maria Trimble brought this story to life in vivid detail with excellent character- and dragon-building, as well as world and scenic descriptions. It's both heartwarming and heart wrenching as Amane goes through the process of losing her mother, only to find herself just days later with a role in destiny to fulfill, and the proud new owner of a dragon – the likes of which had not been seen for many years. With help from The Healer and three others, Amane learns the truth about the supposed extinction of the dragon riders, and is given all the training she needs to prepare her for the coming battle against the false king. In the meantime, she must steal a dragon egg from the castle, all the while keeping her thoughts off the prince who has made it clear he's smitten with her. I highly recommend this book. I see that it's the first book in a trilogy, and I'm eager to read the other two! A very enjoyable read!

What a hook in the beginning of the book. The first chapter is going to pull you in in just one page. It is fabulously written for young adults who want all now and with a great punch. This story has a great pace and a dramatic twist in every chapter. I enjoy the taste of this book, for it tastes like a winner in the world of fantasy.

Amane’s mother dies and Amane is to go on a journey to celebrate her mother’s life. She chooses to go alone to the place where she has spent many wonderful times with her mother. She loves the lore of dragons, and the songs that are passed from one generation to the next. Her mother was the one who taught them to her. When her teacher insists in changing these stories, she defies her teacher who expels her from school.

At fifteen, all girls are busy procuring a husband, but Amane is busy learning to use a sword and dealing with the death of her mother. During her stay by the cove, one of the rocks she places in a ring for a fire, starts to hatch and she is bitten by the small dragon that emerges from within. Almost dead from the venom deposited by the dragon, Amane sees her dead mother who tells her to go back and stay with her dragon. She does so, and now she must confide in someone that she is linked to a dragon, but who? No one but the healer is at her side.

This book will become a favorite for many young adults and for the young of heart. It is tastefully written, with lots of action and even a bit of romance. I greatly recommend it to lovers of dragons and magic, and readers of fantasy at large. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it for any library, be it at school or at home.
