In Amelia’s Autumn Trail by Haley Belinda, Amelia loves to take walks every day with her dad. There are so many wonders to explore, especially in autumn. Learn about the ever changing wonders of nature as birds migrate to warmer climates far away from England, and other creatures settle down in their cosy beds and hibernate for the winter. Join Amelia and her father as they find tiny bugs with lots of legs, and leaves floating to the ground like parachutes. Did you know that squirrels are very clever and can detect if a nut has an insect inside? They will eat it immediately and not store it with the other nuts? After their walk, Amelia and her dad return home and enjoy Mum’s delicious vegetable soup. This storybook has captured the essence and beauty of nature through poems which educate children while entertaining them.

This enchanting storybook for very small children will spark their imaginations, and feed their curious minds. The book actually reminded me of the nature walks I took with my grandfather as a child. The illustrations are a perfect accompaniment to the story and give a great discussion opportunity for parents and children. Every poem and story was beautifully written, but my favourites were the comical Insects poem and Another Walk In The Wood. If your child loves nature and the animal kingdom, they will thoroughly enjoy Amelia’s adventures. I will certainly be recommending Amelia’s Autumn Trail and other books in the Through the Window series.
