Are You Respectful Today? is a children’s book from the Becoming a Better You! series that teaches young children at an early age to start becoming respectful in a very simple, engaging manner. The book takes you through a series of easy ways for your child or children to become respectful about important concepts such as caring, love, and positive thoughts. The book is very easy for children to understand with different, enjoyable ways for them to practice respect on an everyday basis. I highly recommend it as the book combines great writing and illustrations, and it draws young readers in by entertaining them and educating them about a very important subject. Every parent should teach their children respect, but unfortunately in this fast day and age, many forget or do not have the time or energy to teach their children such simple, basic concepts.

The authors, Kris Yankee and Marian Nelson, understand children’s mindsets and teach them in a slow, easy, FUN manner that will surely make reading time between child and parents a bonding experience. The illustrations by Jeff Covieo are excellent and his art work complements the book seamlessly and beautifully. He captures the concept of respect through his images of children, parents, and people throughout the book; all the while incorporating different cultures and races effortlessly. There was a lot of diversity in the artwork. I especially liked the Reflections page parents can go through with their children, answering questions to test what they learned and to incorporate the lessons more deeply, teaching their children at a young age to be respectful. I highly recommend this book!
