Author Biography

I'm a former U.S. Marine and current SWAT commander. I've chased devils with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, operated over 25 years in the chaos of critical incidents, and have even contemplated the deeper meaning of life. In my chosen profession you reach an age where you can no longer sustain the demanding operational tempo required, so I've chosen to write based on a little life experience, imagination, and because carpal tunnel seems challenging.

I enjoy carpentry, handyman activities, the outdoors, and spending time with family.

In everything there must be a balance; against the forces of evil, there must rise a counter force of good. The plans for an ultimate weapon have been uncovered, and there are those who drive for its completion, drive for a world of scientific supremacy, and who will destroy all those who dare obstruct, challenge, or stand against them. They are the dark, and Arklight is a force for God, defending the light. Rescuing the brilliant mathematician, Professor Amaldi, was just the beginning. Coding and hidden messages in artwork bring more questions than answers, but one thing is certain - what they discover cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands. The very future hangs in the balance as past, present, and future unite to fight the most important battle of all time.

If you're looking for a graphic and descriptive wartime/religious fiction story, then J.M. Myrick's Arklight: Force Interdiction may be the book for you. The entire book focuses on an epic quest and a battle of such impossible proportion that it spans time itself. Clear indications of time periods ensure the reader doesn't become lost in the flow, as time lines converge, agendas align, and intervention exposes secrets to ensure that what will be can come to pass. This is the kind of book that possesses a steady pace, but there's always something important happening. The characters are rich, the plot complex, and there are as many reasons to like it as there are threads and diversions. Well written to conjure up brilliant and atmospheric imagery, Arklight: Force Interdiction is an enjoyable read. Whilst this is the second book in the Arklight series, the previous book recap at the front expertly fills in any important need to know history to help the reader embrace the story if they're joining part way through.

Fight for yesterday, hope for tomorrow. With Arklight: Force Interdiction, J.M. Myrick continues a fascinating story that revolves around the ancient order of the Knights Templar, a weapon far more powerful than a nuclear device, and a battle between good and evil that rages across time and space. A war of souls looms; the showdown between good and evil explodes in this second installment of the Arklight Series.

The epic proportions portrayed in this series are truly mind-boggling in scope and imagination. Myrick uses his extensive experiences with the United States Marines and as a SWAT team commander to provide a realistic telling of a story that pushes the limits of imagination and belief. This plot-driven story line is nevertheless filled with colorful, believable characters on both sides of the good/evil fence that provide a wide range of personalities and idiosyncrasies. I was able to empathize, sympathize, love, or hate each one. Verisimilitude is readily visible in all aspects of this story and Myrick cuts no slack when describing the realities of war and death.

Historical, biblical, and mythological elements merge as this fascinating story jumps from past to present, with a large cast of characters; no easy task for any writer, but here too Myrick handles it with expertise and aplomb. Arklight: Force Interdiction is a complex, fast paced, and fascinating tale guaranteed to hit the spot for science fiction and thriller fans. I highly recommend this book and, assuming every other book in this series is equally well done, all the books in the Arklight series as well.

Arklight: Force Interdiction is a piece of Christian historical and contemporary fiction by author J.M. Myrick. In a continuing story line from the events of Arklight: Operation Nightfall, the elite time-travelling Spear Team of Arklight must once again explore the past in order to save the future from ultimate darkness. The destruction of everything is a very real possibility when the pieces of the Arma Christi weapons are laid out by an ancient journal, and the Spear Team must try to get their hands on a piece to stop them all being collected. To do so, they will have to explore the secrets behind many battlefields of American and world history, all in time to stop the ultimate fight from taking over the world.

The winding plot of Arklight: Force Interdiction produces a fascinating narrative that rewrites history as it goes along. J.M. Myrick’s prose is well constructed to deliver these powerful concepts and, although the focus is more towards the overall story than the characters’ journeys, the characters are developed enough for that not to be a problem. I enjoyed the flashes back to other times, and it’s clear that the author has done plenty of work to encapsulate the atmosphere of the past, particularly with reference to war. The inclusion of truly violent moments was stark but appropriate, and really heightened the dangerous reality that the crew and the wider world were facing. Overall, I’d recommend giving the Arklight books a try if you enjoy time travel, history and plot-focused science fiction.
