Author Biography

Cathey Graham Nickell is an author, mother and wife living in Houston, Texas. She is best known as the seeing-eye-person for her little blind dog named Cricket. She self-publishes under her business Twenty-Eight Creative, and she launched her first children’s picture book, "Arthur Zarr’s Amazing Art Car," in November 2015. After taking a few years off to raise four children, Cathey started freelance writing again in 2012 when she was hired by the Institute for Spirituality and Health to research the history of this non-profit organization. Uniting Faith, Medicine and Healthcare: A 60-Year History of the Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center was published in 2015. The book is used as a marketing and communications tool, and all financial proceeds benefit the Institute (not Cathey). Cathey graduated from Baylor University with a BA in Journalism in 1985. She earned a Master of Arts from Louisiana State University-Shreveport in 2013.

Arthur Zarr's Amazing Art Car by Cathey Graham Nickell is an amazing illustrated story that fits every age group. The story follows a man named Arthur Zarr, who is living a life that is colorless and plain. He is a simple man with simple needs; however, he steps out of his comfort zone and does something different to live his life the way he should have been living it. He decides to spice up his life by changing his plain car.

The car was changed in steps; first it was an acorn, later it became a riot of colors and whimsical art. At first, it was just Arthur, but later his neighbors and people around him started to add their objects and marks to his car and made it better. He was once a man who kept to himself, but now he is an involved part of his community. He has friends and his car is bringing colors and happiness into his life.

WOW! This is truly an amazing picture book. One of the best things about it is that it can be enjoyed by every age group. Kids are going to love it because there are some really amazing things on his car. I also really liked the History of Art Cars section. It gave me some much needed information and ignited my curiosity. It is definitely a great way to introduce recycling to our children and make sure they learn these much needed lessons. A really good picture book with amazing illustrations.
