If you believe in angels and demons and hell, then Ascent of the Fallen by Rebecca Ciardullo is a book for you, and we aren’t talking about Angels and Demons in the way they are featured in Dan Brown’s books. Meet Rue, one of the angelic guards who has been in judgment over human souls for centuries, and who knows no compassion in his heart. But then Heaven decides to sentence him to life as a human. Read on to discover how he learns compassion and how he embarks on an odyssey of love that changes everything. His encounter with Serafina Kinnock will not only change the way he sees humanity, but the way he sees himself and his mission.

Ascent of the Fallen is a story that combines many genres to offer a delightful read to readers — sci-fi, fantasy, fiction, apocalyptic and romance. It’s a story that is character-driven and it is filled with very memorable characters. The author writes about angels and demons in a way that readers can relate to. The plot is unlike anything I have read before, filled with surprising twists and exciting turns. I enjoyed the way religious themes are masterfully integrated into the story; it doesn’t feel preachy, but the reader feels the compassion, the idea of free will, the themes of justice and love and a lot more. This is a story that will entertain readers hugely, but then it will leave them thinking about their own personal values. Rebecca Ciardullo is an exceptional writer with terrific characters and a setting that is exciting. I enjoyed every bit of this supernatural story — the gripping plot, the insanely fascinating characters, the wonderful prose, and the great themes.
