Atlantis: Rise of the Nile by David Speight is full of symbolism. This book is the third in a comprehensive series that takes you on an amazing adventure. You will find history, excitement, adventure, and references to the lost city of Atlantis. A mystical land that has flying transporters which are powered by orichalcum, where animals talk, and where Asterians from a lost moon of Earth hide. All of this is an amazing adventure and a prince must find a scroll of magic to save Atlantis before the one called the Uprooter does.

Aedon is the prince and a character that I can relate to. I love a good sci-fi story and when you cross that bit of fantasy with some fantastic history, it is a book that is guaranteed to hook me into it. While I admit I came into this book without reading the other two first, I am going to go back and read them so I can read this again as well. The book is able to stand alone and be understandable - there are some references and a little of the back-story that were not clear to me but that did not stop my enjoyment of the book at all. You can tell that David Speight put a lot of work and thought into the world he has created, and the creatures and the stories all flow together beautifully. The writing is descriptive and enjoyable without being too long-winded. You really get a sense that you could walk into this land and help with the challenges it faces. I would recommend this one to any fantasy readers.
