Atlantis: Rise of the Nile by David Speight is the last of the trilogy of the Atlantis series. The story that begins in Atlantis: Bearer of Fruit and Atlantis: Fall of the Gods concludes impressively in this book. Aedon is an illegitimate prince. Aedon finds himself being the one who should locate the magic scroll after the ruling Lord of Atlantis falls sick. The place to get the map itself is a big mystery as it is in uncharted territory. Aedon has to get there before the Uprooter and many others to save the land. Aedon's journey is filled with adventure and excitement and he faces mermaids, pythons, and unicorns on this journey to get the scroll.

This adventurous science fiction story is very exciting with a lot of twists and turns and there is a sense of mysticism and richness that will keep readers enthralled. The historical and biblical references, along with the whimsical creatures, make the story very entertaining. All the characters have important roles in the story as the plot progresses and they have been portrayed well by the author to give good support to Aedon's character.

The story is a blend of reality and fantasy, and old and new. The verses add to the lyrical quality and it is a good diversion as the story develops. It is an excellent piece of writing that will keep readers riveted.

In Atlantis: Rise of the Nile by David Speight, the forces of good battle the evil plans of the King to save the world. Aedon, one of the Prince Lords of Atlantis, is brought before King Poseidontel in chains. Fortunately, he is able to escape and embarks on a mission to find the lost Scroll of Air before Poseidontel gains the complete set of the ancient magical spells and can rule the universe. Battling uncertainty and the false support of supposed friends, Aedon tries to find his banished father and the final scroll that can combat the destruction brought about by Poseidontel and provide salvation to the dying planet. As the King, who is possessed by an evil spirit, tries to prevent Aedon from reaching his goal, total devastation is unleashed across the planet resulting in the destruction of land and the death of millions of people and animals. Will Aedon be able to find the final scroll and save the world before it is too late?

David Speight has skillfully combined existing legends and biblical accounts of the destruction of the earth and its subsequent rebirth with fictional elements of the Atlantis myth in Atlantis: Rise of the Nile. There are many references to the way things may have been 10,000 years ago and possible explanations for why they are the way they are today. The basic human traits of love, dedication, greed, and deceit are demonstrated in this description of the age-old struggle between the powers of good and evil and the difficulty every individual faces when confronted with significant choices. Can one person make a difference when it seems that all hope is lost?

Atlantis: Rise of the Nile by David Speight is full of symbolism. This book is the third in a comprehensive series that takes you on an amazing adventure. You will find history, excitement, adventure, and references to the lost city of Atlantis. A mystical land that has flying transporters which are powered by orichalcum, where animals talk, and where Asterians from a lost moon of Earth hide. All of this is an amazing adventure and a prince must find a scroll of magic to save Atlantis before the one called the Uprooter does.

Aedon is the prince and a character that I can relate to. I love a good sci-fi story and when you cross that bit of fantasy with some fantastic history, it is a book that is guaranteed to hook me into it. While I admit I came into this book without reading the other two first, I am going to go back and read them so I can read this again as well. The book is able to stand alone and be understandable - there are some references and a little of the back-story that were not clear to me but that did not stop my enjoyment of the book at all. You can tell that David Speight put a lot of work and thought into the world he has created, and the creatures and the stories all flow together beautifully. The writing is descriptive and enjoyable without being too long-winded. You really get a sense that you could walk into this land and help with the challenges it faces. I would recommend this one to any fantasy readers.
