Mamma Macs in her book Australian Animal Walkabout does a fun, entertaining and knowledgeable job of introducing various animals from Australia. There are beautiful colored pictures which illustrate each animal and their character. The pictures look like a child has colored them and they are vivid and entertaining. Each animal is unique to its location and the author shares details of each one, such as the pouch found on a Kangaroo and pointy ears found on a Dingo. While these aren't your normal everyday animals, they are very interesting to learn about.

Mamma Macs gives children a very well written book that draws them into each character, exposing them to animals that a child might not see living locally around them. An Emu isn't found in every back yard, nor is the Koala, making children excited to learn more about these particular animals. Since each one is unique, young readers will want to learn more about each animal and its surroundings. While this is a children's book, it would be a fun read for a parent to share with their child. It would be a great educational tool to be used in schools and libraries. Children can learn about animals on their level and find out that this world has some pretty unique and different types of animals. Author Mamma Macs has not only shared some of these animals, but has other books to come concerning Minky Monkey, a mischievous animal who learns though his adventures with Job Buddies.
