Baby Duck's New Grandma by Mary Jo Prado is a delightful storybook for children. Baby Duck's grandma is in heaven and Baby Duck is really missing her. She loves her grandma very much and she feels lonely and lost now that her grandma is not there. She thinks of the good times she has shared with her grandma, their times together in the park, and shopping, and many other things. Then suddenly her grandpa drops in and surprises her with a gift. What could that be? Is it something that Baby Duck really wanted for herself or some other gift which will hold her interest?

The author shares a beautiful story that has an endearing concept and message for kids. It teaches them how to cope up with loss and also how to accept new things in their lives. Meeting her new grandma Donna is unexpected for Baby Duck and initially she finds it difficult to accept that she is going to have a new grandma. But then her new grandma makes her feel comfortable by taking her for walks along the creek and doing a lot of fun things together. It is a perfect story to help children welcome new people into their lives. It is a good book to read to kids during bedtime and makes a charming book for read-aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The illustrations are bright and colorful and they breathe life and movement into the characters and scenes, making it easy for kids to relate to the characters and story.
