Be An Overcomer…Even If You Have To Do It Several Times is a work of non-fiction in the inspirational and memoir subgenres. It is suitable for the general reading audience and was penned by author Jill Dorman. The book chronicles the author's life after she is diagnosed with breast cancer and nearly loses her husband. Throughout these devastating experiences, the author shares her journey of going from a happy and fulfilling life to facing her own mortality, and the relationship with God that helped her survive this trying time. With the goal of sharing the strengths she found in their journey with others, the book aims to help readers going through unimaginable difficulties.

Life can be a series of challenges, and there’s no telling when a big personal disaster is going to strike and shatter the happiness that you’ve fought so hard for. But these obstacles and the emotional toll that they take don’t need to define your life, as author Jill Dorman’s deeply personal and highly moving memoir illustrates. Sharing the author’s pain as her health came under attack was a difficult read, but it is eclipsed by the philosophy that she discovered during her time in treatment and it is the sharing of that philosophy that makes Be An Overcomer such an essential read for people going through their own difficulties and strife. There are no easy solutions to life’s problems, and the book is careful not to offer any easy outs, but there are strategies for coping and recovering that this book makes available through the wisdom of reflection and the power of solidarity.

Be An Overcomer…Even If You Have To Do It Several Times by Jill Dorman is the story of a woman who has suffered numerous tragedies in her life. Dorman centered her book around a personal health crisis that she underwent just as she was newly married and enjoying a happy life. She describes her reactions, and the eventual outcomes, of the heartbreaks she experienced. She also writes about the many other adversities that occurred to her family. Dorman’s thesis is that with God’s help it's possible to overcome anything that life throws at you. The book is a devotional journal; it’s interactive. Readers are asked to consider their own situations and fill in their responses. Each chapter also ends with a relevant Bible verse.

Be An Overcomer…Even If You Have To Do It Several Times is a compelling true story. Author Jill Dorman has experienced more tragedy than any human being should have to, so she writes from experience and with acute empathy. Readers will experience sorrow as they learn about the adversities that Dorman experienced, but will also rejoice as they find out how she overcame her tragedies. The courage and fortitude that Dorman demonstrated will inspire anyone. A careful reading—or more accurately, experiencing—of this book will help anyone who may be suffering adversity. The book should also cause readers to consider their own lives and all that they can be thankful for. I recommend this book not only for those who are currently undergoing tough times but for everyone because we never know what’s coming in our lives.

Be an Overcomer… Even If You Have to Do It Several Times is an inspirational, true-story-based devotional. Author Jill Dorman has experienced significant loss due to various cancers in her close family. In 2019, she found out that her encounters with cancer were not over when she was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a small rash on her body. In her short married life, Jill and her husband together experienced immense physical trials, near-death experiences, and onslaughts of grief. She faces her diagnosis head-on and more positively than most people would. It is mainly Jill’s story, and how different aspects can be related to it in a Christian sense, with self-reflective questions for the reader to answer. It is not a Bible-intensive study but mostly self-reflective.

Be an Overcomer had me in tears reading the cancer trials of so many of Jill’s family members and herself. It was inspiring seeing how Jill did not lose herself to sadness or depression after being diagnosed with and experiencing the emotional and physical pain of cancer. I think it is a great story-centered devotional for people who are looking for something to help them in their self-growth. In Be an Overcomer, Jill Dorman helps you to see your own strength and helps you find positive things in your life to be grateful for. Even if you or your loved ones have not had any run-ins with cancer, this book will help you in areas of self-reflection and self-growth in your life.
