Becoming the Total Package: Choose the Love You Deserve for the Life You Want by Aviva Reimer is a self-help and personal wellness book that addresses the core reasons why so many people fall short of what they want in all aspects of life. Over the course of seven chapters, Reimer directs us on the importance of turning the lens onto ourselves, taking stock of who we are and where we have been, removing clutter and chaos in the physical and emotional sense, making our bodies align with the health of our outlook, dating, and cultivating relationships that last. These are greatly expanded upon throughout the book with Reimer relaying her own past obstacles in a way that is refreshing and relatable. The book closes with an assortment of recommended businesses and resources to jump-start the life we really do deserve.
Aviva Reimer does an excellent job of providing a comprehensive analysis in a relatively compact book. There's a lot of depth between the pages of Becoming the Total Package that I was hoping for but not necessarily expecting, setting it apart in a congested genre. My favorite part was on the importance of a daily ritual that is tailored to our own personality and goals and is something that gets us excited, regardless of how simple it may be. On the flip side of this, Reimer also forces us to step back and confront some uncomfortable truths about our life choices, including our choice to forego happiness, and to apply some of her cultivated guidance to tackle them. While Reimer states that she is not a religious person and is frank about being spiritual over religious, there are references to scripture, God, and a serenity prayer, but they're primarily in the context of Reimer's own routine as opposed to suggesting a reader embrace the same. I just really loved this guide, its message, and the positivity Reimer beams throughout the book.
