Becoming Wilde is a romance novel written by H.K. Jacobs. Navigating her relationship with billionaire philanthropist Ian Devall, a mining empire heir, physician Alexandra Wilde (Alex) continues her mission of treating terminally ill children in Botswana. After an eventful holiday in Tanzania where she helps in the birth of a baby elephant, Alex and Ian are closer than ever. However, Ian's commitments to the Devall Foundation take him to places that have him apart from Alex for prolonged periods of time. Moreover, a freak accident in a Mongolian mine results in Ian's disappearance that leaves Alex in a state of turmoil, leading to rash decisions she could never have foreseen. Can she get back on track and resume her life? Will she ever be reunited with the love of her life?
A tumulous tale of star-crossed lovers, H.K. Jacobs' novel is an enthralling experience from start to finish. With relatable characters who keep you immersed throughout the pages, Jacobs' yarn of two individuals from vastly different backgrounds finding kindred spirits in each other is an absolute joy to read. Filled with heartbreak, romance, and humor, Becoming Wilde is devoid of a single dull moment and keeps you engaged with a combination of an intoxicating love story and character work that is rare in contemporary romance novels. Alex and Ian's relationship is the bedrock of the narrative, and their dynamic provides the thrust that moves the plot forward. It was easy to enjoy their palpable chemistry, and I found myself rooting for them until the end. Anyone who's itching for a well-written romance novel should check out Becoming Wilde.
