Being Loved By You by Desi Anderson is a suspenseful romance with characters that are lovely and realistic themes. Ava is quick to offer advice to her friends in relationships and they listen to her. The sad thing is that none of her friends know the anxiety she harbors in her heart and the fear of growing old alone. She’s not yet healed from the breakup with her boyfriend of five years and can’t believe she can handle a relationship, not just yet. Then something happens — she eventually falls in love with Julius. He has everything any woman would want in a man and Ava begins to dream of a future, even a family, with her new love. But is she ready to face the challenges and the events that threatens her new relationship or is she setting herself up for another failure?
Desi Anderson captures the emotions and the inner tensions most of us struggle with when it comes to thoughts about relationships and marriage. This story explores one of the truths that we live with, the source of the anxiety that most people experience, and this is exemplified in Ava’s life — we are always worried that someone might not love us and when we meet someone who loves us, we become anxious and afraid we may lose that person. The narrative is done in a powerful third person voice and in the present tense. The tense gives strength to the narrative, making the reader feel as though the action is taking place before them. The dialogues feel natural, and they reflect authenticity in the connections between the different characters. Being Loved By You is an interesting story, and it has powerful lessons and an emotional intensity that readers can identity with easily.
