Author Biography

Kate Harvie was born to teach people how to tell their stories. She does this with writing, editing, marketing, brand strategy, and development online and offline. A graduate of law school, she is a startup founder and advocate for survivors of all kinds of trauma.
A published writer for online magazines (BeautyNewsNYC), print publications (West End Word), blogs (L.M. Durand), and the company where she works as a community manager (Suit & Artist), Kate began in advertising at FutureBrand's digital practice. She worked at INTAGLIA HOME COLLECTION in St. Louis in marketing and sales. She co-wrote curricula, vodcast scripts, and training dialogues at Sephora and for several cosmetic companies. As the community and content manager at The Phat Startup, she was responsible for the website's content creation, editing, and ghostwriting. She works in communications and strategic planning for The Vanderbilt Republic.
Kate is a survivor of a traumatic brain injury. That is the impetus for her first book. She is a singer, a volunteer at non-profits and entrepreneurial programs around the country, and the person you want in your corner and on your speed dial.

Believe It and Behave It: How to Restart, Reset, and Reframe Your Life by Kate Harvie is an inspiring memoir that speaks about the author’s recovery from traumatic brain injury and how she rebuilt her life powered by happiness, clarity, and truth. The title of the book helps readers understand how by believing that there is progress, whatever the pace might be, by behaving as if the action is happening and they are on the verge of becoming the person they want to become, they are making things happen. The book is about courage, resilience, survival, and hope and readers will understand there is always a solution to the problems and issues in life; be it health, family, or job. As the author puts it: ‘We deal. We cope. We grow.’

The book is uplifting and will help readers, especially the ones who are going through trying times, to perceive life and its problems with a positive outlook. Kate’s story will encourage them and they will find themselves better equipped when it comes to handling the challenges in life after reading this book. For all those who are stuck in their lives and need to reboot it, this book definitely will encourage them to go for a new start. It is a good, motivating read when it comes to overcoming obstacles and facing fears in a way that is honest and straightforward.
