Author Biography

Betsy Kelleher grew up on an Iowa farm that cultivated her love of nature and animals. After earning a journalism degree from Iowa State University, she wrote radio commercials, newspaper articles, and scripts for both audio and video training programs. She’s the author of two books for horse lovers, and for twenty years she wrote a column titled “Sometimes God Uses Horses” for the Illinois Horse Network newspaper. She and her husband, Russ, live near Granite City, Illinois, with their Boston terrier, Ribbons.

Beyond the Visible Edge: A Grieving Mother's Pilgrimage While Walking the Dog by Betsy Kelleher is a heartrending memoir that will remind readers about the delicate balance of life and the powerful role of God and nature when it comes to healing. The author's story of losing her son Bob to cancer will be a source of inspiration and strength to many readers who are grieving and going through its various stages; denial, bargaining, anger, depression, and acceptance. God is the biggest healer and the author speaks about her healing journey, God's healing presence, and getting Ribbons as the biggest gifts that brought love, light, and goodness into her life.

The author takes readers on her personal journey and gives them a peek into her world that was turned upside down and the healing process that led her to trusting her Creator completely. The book is honest and reiterates the presence and soothing power of God in everybody's lives. Reading this book will give one a unique perspective on life and death, and the role of God and the healing energy of nature in life. This book is for all those readers who are struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one in their lives. The author's coming to terms with her loss, and learning to deal with her grief by rediscovering her life with the help of her dog, and through God and nature is encouraging and will give hope to many others who are on the same path.
