Biffy Ferguson And The Cheese Mice from Mars by Robert A. Peter is an entertaining storybook for children where they are introduced to Biffy Ferguson, an eight-year-old tabby cat whose tail tip is orange. Biffy’s best friends are Mr Marple, a large ginger tom, and Robbie, a West Highland terrier, who both live nearby. Biffy thought Robbie started the rumors of being a distant cousin of Greyfriars Bobby, who was famous for his loyalty. However, spaceships from Mars are planning to raid earth in order to steal cheese from a cheese festival in Cheddar, England. They land near where Biffy and his friends are having their afternoon siesta. What follows next is a series of interesting adventures that will see Biffy and his friends trying to save the day.

The plot is engaging and the author seamlessly weaves the space and earth characters together, making the story different. All the characters, whether Biffy, Robbie, Mr Marple or General Squeakcheesy, are well sketched and they will remain in the minds of young readers for a long time. It’s a good bedtime storybook and children will have fun listening to it at night. The book is also good for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. For all those kids who enjoy reading science fiction, this book is a perfect read as it not only gives them information, but also teaches them new things.
