Author Biography

Jeanette Vuuren (Jansen van Vuuren) lives in Adelaide, Australia with her husband and two children.

Her educational background as a qualified teacher with a further diploma in Remedial Education and over fourteen years teaching experience, gained in South Africa, the UK and Australia has given her a deep empathy and understanding for the special needs of students.

Working with Kindergarten to Year 11 students, with diverse backgrounds, in different subject fields as a mainstream, special needs and remedial teacher, helped her adapt her teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students.

She especially aims to write educational and story books, including the relevant concepts applicable for specific age groups, integrating learning content with different curriculum, subject fields and life lessons.

While staying at home when her two children were young, her passion for writing started when she was doing research on remedial education and learning disabilities, creating integrated lesson plans for differentiated classes.

She pursued her passion for writing in 2009 to assist a student who was not able to sound out words, but made up her own story by looking at the pictures.
Jeanette has published her first series on honeybees and is in the process of expanding the series with teachers' resources, fun activities and other series and will have it available in paperback soon.

Bizzy the Hardworking Bee Volume 8 (Honeybee Series) by Jeanette Vuuren is the eighth book in the Honeybee series. Like the previous volumes, the book is educational and it tells young readers about the chores of the worker bees for the whole week. The layout of the book and the illustrations make it very appealing and attractive to readers. The book is short and the purpose of writing is very clear. Each book deals with a particular concept that is imparted well to readers. It is a an excellent collection that should be owned by all children's libraries and school libraries.

The book can be used to teach children about a bee and its background. The twelve-volume series covers extensively all that one requires to know about a honeybee. The depictions and the text are crisp and child-friendly. It helps a child in many ways; not only to know more about bees but also to set a routine for themselves. The functional word list at the end of the book is very useful. It introduces children to new words and expands their vocabulary. The book not only teaches children, but also adults and teachers.

The author's aim to bring out educational books with a concept has been successful. The beautiful illustrations are neat and precise, and they give charm to the theme. I found Bizzy adorable and I hope all readers out there did as well. An endearing story book with an educational theme and a concept which makes it a winner.
