Blackie and Goldie were going to have a beachy birthday celebration. They invited their friend Simi the seagull to come and build sandmen with them. When Simi arrived, they noticed a black gooey substance on his feathers. Simi told them that the ocean was polluted, and later that day Blackie and Goldie wondered what they could do to help Mother Earth feel better. At that time a rainbow appeared in the sky and its colorful rays opened a magical tunnel in the ground. They went down the tunnel and wondered what adventure would be awaiting them there. Goldie could not believe her eyes when she saw Kandee the Kangaroo who welcomed Blackie and Goldie to Australia. They recycled, recycled, and recycled until it was time for another adventure. They went to Europe and met Kitt the deer. They finally went to Africa where Lotus the elephant took them to their final project.

Blackie and Goldie's Project Green Earth by Shelli Misoyianis is a wonderful adventure story that tackles the concept of cleaning up the planet. Reading the story will help young readers learn what Blackie and Goldie's final project was and whether they were able to accomplish their mission of Project Green Earth successfully. The author's colorful illustrations breathe life into the story and the characters and give it a good pace and movement, along with giving clarity to the concept. It is a good story to help children become aware of keeping their planet plastic-free and making it green and lush. Blackie and Goldie's Project Green Earth is definitely a story worth telling in classrooms and homes because of the positive and uplifting message it conveys to young readers.
