Madden graduated in 1993 from Cornell University with a BS in Labor Relations and worked for a number of years in Labor Relations/Human Resources in the private sector and government. In 2001, Madden earned her Master of Arts in Psychology from Phillips Graduate Institute. Her training covered all areas of psychotherapy but centered on relationship dynamics. In her training to become a therapist, she worked in a variety of settings… including jail. Again, she feels this training has helped her understand difficult marriages (cellmates for life) better.

Since opening her private practice, Madden has focused her couples counseling on helping people rebuild their marriages after infidelity.

Madden is the married mother of two young boys. She’s been in the same loving relationship for almost two decades and understands first-hand that even the best relationships take work.

It could never happen to you. Not your husband. He would never cheat. But then...he does. All of a sudden, your world is turned upside down. What happens now? How do you deal with kids, relatives, etc. when you can barely see past the pain? When you can't even recognize who you are because of all the actions you are doing out of anger. Blindsided By His Betrayal: Surviving the Shock of Your Husband's Infidelity is Caroline Madden's resource for those in the midst of the chaos of infidelity. This tool will help you make sense of your emotions and reactions, and provide some strategies as to where to go from here.

Caroline Madden doesn't pull any punches when it comes to this self-help guide to marriage trauma. I really appreciated that the book didn't get all preachy about the decision to stay in a marriage or not. That decision is difficult enough to make between two people who have been together for some amount of time, and their therapist who may or may not know the couple very well. By remaining somewhat neutral on staying or leaving a marriage, I was able to trust the information because it wasn't trying to persuade me to go one way or another. Blindsided By His Betrayal: Surviving the Shock of Your Husband's Infidelity will be the go-to resource for women struggling with their lives after discovering infidelity. It provides calm, logical, and reassuring information, and tips that will come in handy for those still caught reeling in disbelief.
