Blue Solace: (New Bonus Content 2017 Edition) by Angela Dawn Staten is a well-crafted fantasy that will appeal, undoubtedly, to fans of novels featuring creatures of the night. Let me warn readers that there are some graphic descriptions in this book that may not sit well with readers who are not into violence or descriptions of things that are gory. The dead are rising, and vampires are thriving, taking their night game to a whole new level. Both vampires and shadows are keen on Raven, a newly risen, and it’s up to Leon and Lucas to save Raven from the vampires and the shadows, because she is their only hope of surviving the evil that is about the overrun their world. The question is: Can they outwit the cunning vampires and their insatiable thirst?

This is the first fantasy novel I have read by Angela Dawn Staten, and I must say that I was pleased with the writing. It flows with grace. Her narrative voice is unique and she has used a beautiful style to work on the points of view, shifting the narrative perspective from chapter to chapter to allow readers the chance to experience the story through the minds of her characters. This style also creates a thrilling sense of suspense which makes the read very interesting. The suspense gets the reader immersed in the story, wanting to know what happens to the characters as they move from one episode to the next. The characters are well-developed and, even though they are not ordinary humans, readers will easily connect with them. Blue Solace is a fast-paced story, episodic, and animated by a powerful conflict.

Leon, the seer and genius, saw Raven die and since his visions are never wrong, he is pretty sure that there is nothing that they can do that will save her. But that does not mean he and Lucas will not try. However, the creatures of the dark are not the only threat to humanity and Raven. There is a far more deadly enemy rising and imminent steps need to be taken, regardless of the casualties and risks. With an enemy so strong and potent, what can Lucas and Leon do to save Raven and save humanity at the same time? Something and someone has to give; would that be Raven or someone else?

What can I say about Blue Solace? It is an exhilarating and heart racing tale that will make you want more. I loved the way it was written. Angela Dawn Staten made sure that the reader will stay hooked to the story from the Prologue and will not stop until they reach the end. The story is definitely a little dark, but it fits in perfectly with the theme of the novel. It is absolutely brilliant and the cover looks really amazing! There is absolutely everything right with this novel and I cannot wait for the second part to find out what happens next.
