Born To Stand Out, a story about a chameleon who finds his true colors talks about the qualities and advantages of being oneself. The protagonist of the story is a chameleon named Camo, and like all chameleons, he is a master of camouflage. Camo has many friends and at first, he tries to be like them, so even if he doesn't agree with what his friends say or do, he imitates them so that he can fit in. However, one day, he meditates on it and decides to be himself. Camo's change turned out to be better than expected. In a colorful story, Nikki Rogers explains the social pressures on children when learning to interact with other children. The book also teaches the positive outcome of being oneself, and that one should not be afraid to show who we are.

The sentences are short and clear, perfect for children to practice reading. The book is visually pleasing, with each colorful image in soft and relaxed tones. The nature of the characters is appealing, and their personalities are very clear. I liked Born To Stand Out because at the end it includes a small section of fun facts about chameleons, and this additional information is surrounded by pictures. It is surprising to see the colors that some of them adopt, as well as their different forms. Nikki Rogers has written a very comprehensive book, mindful of children, their interaction with nature, and showing them how great chameleons can be.
