In Borrowing The Doctor by Victoria Pinder, we are introduced to the spunky Kate Sparrow. She has been accused of some pretty rotten things, set up by her own family, and she is using the wedding of her spoiled sister Stephanie to set matters right. Daniel Collins, cousin of the groom, is tasked with babysitting Kate to make sure she doesn’t ruin her sister’s plan of marrying a rich man. So with Doctor Daniel Collins dogging her every move, Kate uses him as her pretend boyfriend to shield her against whoever is trying to harm her. Victoria Pinder has outdone her creative genius with this story and the fantastic Kate Sparrow. She’s a bad girl with a halo, trying to clear her name by any means necessary.

I love how Borrowing The Doctor starts with the lines already drawn and it sucks you right in. There are no preliminary build-ups here; you know exactly who has basically done what and that sets the stage for everything else. Even as Kate and Daniel build a tentative trust, the chemistry and growing emotion between them leapt off the pages. Daniel and the Collins brothers not only show Kate what family should be like, but they take her in and look after her like she is one of the gang. Victoria Pinder took her prowess as a romance writer, threw in a bit of mystery and suspense, and turned this story into a fast-paced thrill ride that keeps the reader guessing. Combine all that excitement and contain it in a Caribbean cruise ship and you’ve got everything you need for a very good read.
