Elora Morgan continues the Beyond the God Sea Trilogy with Bound by Dark Waters, Book II: Wed. Zaria has been kidnapped and is torn between knowing whether her beloved Kirwyn has died or if he survived their attack. Upon arriving at Rythas, Zaria learns she is promised to Jullik, the young king. She is assigned Jesi to help acclimate her to the ways of High Spire. When she finally meets Jullik, his father King Grahar, and his twin Prince Lazlian, she is shocked at how brazen Lazlian is. After the dinner, Zaria is determined to escape from Rythas and search for Kirwyn. After her attempted escape results in a botched kidnapping, Zaria finds she has conflicted feelings about her betrothed.

My imagination became captivated by this fantasy romance. Elora Morgan effectively captured every emotion that Zaria felt. I understood how she could feel out of place in a world vastly different than Elowa. I couldn't fathom discovering everything I believed was all lies. I loved the pacing and world-building of Bound by Dark Waters. Just when a climactic scene would happen, it would leave another obstacle that was even more difficult to overcome. The development of every character is very well done, and as time progresses it is easy to envision the motives of everyone, though this didn't make anything predictable. I could see the realistic traits of being stubborn, distrustful, and manipulative in Zaria's character. I highly recommend this romantic fantasy novel. The suspense, unrequited love, aspirations, and determination of every character have me looking forward to the next book.
