Brain2Body Lifestyle, Nutrition and Exercise Manual by Simon Maryan is an informative manual that guides readers through mind and body training in order to achieve a healthier and fitter lifestyle. The book covers some main aspects of the subject: how to lose weight through periodic fasting; nutritional information on calorie intake and the importance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats; exercising and training. The book teaches readers how to calculate the necessary calories as well as how much proteins, carbs and fats a person needs to eat, adapted to her/his own personal circumstances. It also shows how to establish what cardio exercises are right for each individual, depending on fitness level and resting heart rate.

I enjoyed reading Brain2Body because it is different than other books I have read on the same subject. Firstly, the concept of periodic fasting was new to me and I enjoyed learning about the legitimacy of it. The book also covers some more “philosophic” aspects such as identity, personal change, and establishing goals the correct way. The book is clearly written and easy to understand. When the vocabulary is too specialised, the author explains the ideas again “in plain English”, in his own words. The book is accompanied by explanatory charts which make the theory in the book easy to apply. Perseverance is the key in achieving the losing weight and get fit goal and the author clearly states this. The manual closes with a weekly training plan, easy to follow and to adapt to your particular circumstances.
