The story involves Gianna Gallo, a beautiful brunette with eyes resembling deep brown pools, pursuing her dream of a career in the theatre. She had loved and lost one male friend – Nicholas - and initially decided to focus on her goal of stage success. Best friend Marla, had the same interest. They were close but very different. Marla partied and saw no harm in dating often, with various consorts. These she found on a dating website by the name of Heartbeat. Gianna, apart from her theatrical goals, was more a home gal; she was not comfortable with the whole online method of meeting people ... until life and the wrong choices in male friends made her rethink her ideology.

Tom Ferraro is twenty-four, incredibly handsome with piercing blue eyes, and a firefighter. His lifelong passion had been to become a firefighter and he accomplished that dream. He could think of anything more invigorating, nor satisfying, than to quell the destruction of flames: to rescue victims and save their lives. He showed very little interest in dating. Enter Lindsay, found on Heartbeat’s website, who quickly took over his free time. She gave reason for his work buddies to tease him, and caused him to rethink his friend Jared’s suggestion that he check out the online dating service again; to not give up, because someone better was ‘out there.’ So, begins the saga of love found, love lost (or discarded) and the elusive true love.

A delightful romantic tale with all the excitement and disappointment that real-life love causes. I found it a little overlong with each individual's thinking processes and doubts, but love overcomes everything, forgives everything and shares all. So it is with this book: it brings us into the intimate worlds of Gianna and Tom, who find that elusive love, forgive the past, and become willing to share all that they have and are. A challenging road but one worth walking with them.
