“Break Your Addiction to Conflict: 12 Tools to Quiet the Mind” was written by Nathan J. Snow, a former business owner who had dealt with an unpleasant experience with his business partner. However, this situation ended up being the path for change as he learned how to overcome everyday stress factors. His definition of conflict is simple: the mental struggle that occurs when our wishes are not aligned with the demands of our circumstances. He proves the fact that as much as we deny it, we are attracted to conflict. But we can choose to turn off our cell phones, question our own actions and avoid repeating emotional history if we use his 12 tools which are similar to a 12-step program. However, Snow's interpretation lends a DIY, ecumenical twist to enlightenment.

This book was a combination of an autobiography and a self-help guide. Unlike most self-help books, this manuscript was not written by a psychologist, celebrity or renowned motivational speaker. Instead, it was penned by a man with challenges that anyone can relate to whether the drama unfolds at home, on the job or stuck in traffic. It was an easy read. I laughed at the common daily scenarios. Each chapter has a takeaway -- a powerful tool that can be applied to the lesson. This book would make a great video or corporate training manual. This is Snow’s first book, but I hope he will write a sequel.
