Author Biography

Deanna LoTerzo's success as a psychotherapist, life coach, and spiritual mentor spans 18+ years and is attested to by health practitioners and clients from all walks of life.

“Previous to immersing myself in the writing of Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best life, while fully committed to the Management Services & Recruitment industry I was forced into premature retirement due to life-threatening illness. Having to contemplate a different path mid-life and post-recovery was seriously destabilizing.

In spite of my predicted demise, I recovered vibrant health and joy which continues to this day. Without hesitation, I attribute my recovery solely to holistic therapies which focused on healing emotional imbalance and mental stress and, not surprisingly, decided to retrain as a psychotherapist and life coach. That choice has enable me to integrate the core principles of meditation, neuroscience, and positive psychology upon which my healing process and this book are grounded. I quickly became passionate about my new direction and haven't looked back since!

Fast forward. I’ve happily made the transition from workaholic frenzy to meditative calm, from a hearty European diet to veganism, from designer business suits, hose and heels to leggings and denim, from fruity Merlot to fruit smoothies, from hours spent on lush green fairways to similar on a purple yoga mat, from relentless researcher to writer, and from buttery French pastries to gluten-free vegan brownies. With absolutely no regrets. I'm healthier, more creative and happier than I've ever been - and wish the same for you.”

Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life by Deanna LoTerzo is a self-help book about realizing and accepting that your mind and heart are connected. Your words and emotions affect you physically, and you decide how you will be affected. Words are powerful, and if you use them well, you can instantly change your life's trajectory. LoTerzo discusses general debilitating emotions and behavior that have severe consequences for many people worldwide, including issues of low self-esteem, destructive attitudes and feelings, abuse, eating disorders, and money management. This is a comprehensive step-by-step guide that will transform your outlook and allow you to take charge of your life.

Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life by Deanna LoTerzo is unlike other self-help books that preach the meaning in philosophies; LoTerzo aligns science with logical positive transformative practices that can change your life. I particularly enjoyed the sections where LoTerzo shared her personal experiences, a strained relationship with her mother, and the consequent abuse that partially resulted from a troubled childhood. Therefore, LoTerzo guides from a place of experience both professionally and personally. Her clients' experiences are all relevant and diverse, providing as much context as possible so that it's impossible for any reader not to identify or relate to at least one or more of their stories. Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life by Deanna LoTerzo is a brilliant book, well-conceived, well-written, inspirational, insightful, and compelling, reminding me of the power of words. I will undoubtedly revisit her teaching in the future.

Our thinking determines our emotional state. The way we think and the way we feel affect our behavior. If what we believe is negative it will adversely influence the outcome of our actions. Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life: An Unbelievably Simple, Proven Path to Rapid, Remarkable Change helps us to find our essence and attain a state of inner peace, which will improve our interaction with others. Deanna LoTerzo explains this by using actual case studies of people who succeeded in overcoming obstacles. She also addresses how to deal with social demands. She teaches us the need to be patient and kind to ourselves, by providing tools and techniques for transforming our negative emotions and overcoming past problems.

Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life clearly explains that many of our beliefs are patterns that we learned in childhood. Some of these may limit our capacity to express ourselves freely. We must learn to identify these thoughts to eliminate them and feel worthy of everything that flows into our lives. I liked the way Deanna LoTerzo focuses on confronting the problem at its source. She includes aspects such as the production of happiness hormones and ways to improve our habits. She also describes very diverse cases of people who have conquered adversity, showing that change is possible. The book includes exercises for meditation and self-observation, leading to a deeper understanding that we have choices.

Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life: An Unbelievably Simple, Proven Path to Rapid, Remarkable Change by Deanna LoTerzo is a self-help guide for those who have found themselves stifled by negative emotions, outlooks, and experiences in the past, both recent and further back, that do not permit for meaningful progress to healthy wholeness and wellness. The book is broken down into three distinct and interconnected parts. Part one, Biography Becomes Biology, focuses on areas such as brain function, emotional evolution, and change. Part two, Tips, Tools, and Techniques, encourages independent and creative discovery of both ourselves and the world at large, as well as misconceptions and perceptions. Part three, Freedom from Deception and Misinformation, is more targeted at the loss of self and emotional repercussions that occur through certain events, and how one might truly overcome them.

I am always thrilled when I come across a practitioner with ideas that are new to me and, more specifically, when I feel instantly connected to the message. This is my experience with Bright Mind, Happy Heart, Best Life by Deanna LoTerzo. I learned that over 70% of people's thoughts are negative or redundant, which essentially means that over 1/3 of the population is in need of this book or one like it. I most enjoyed LoTerzo's sharing of case notes and success stories after a topic is concluded that is representative of our power to overcome and flourish, and which really does inspire. The standout to me is Rina, a professionally successful woman who remains in a continued state of fear over childhood poverty, crippled by a drive to “build a healthy bank balance” even as her physical and emotional well-being fell apart. After help in working through the fear, Rina finally found a compromise and learned to “surrender to all the abundance coming your way, breathe it in, immerse yourself in it, and have fun with it.” There is no downside to LoTerzo's book and I can only see it having a profoundly positive impact on those who are willing to read it.
