Author Biography

Jessica Hernandez was born and raised in the beautifully sunny state of Florida. She attended the University of Miami, where she spent more time than she cares to admit daydreaming of a faraway land called Acu. Upon graduating with a degree in English and Political Science in 2014, Jessica put pen to paper and brought Acu to life—so was born “Capering on Glass Bridges.” Currently, Jessica is working on a second novel.

Capering on Glass Bridges by Jessica Hernandez is a young adult fantasy that follows sixteen-year-old Kaia Stone. Kaia is one of two that the Utdrendans have named for an impossible task. To free the Kingdom of Mar. The task seems simple enough, but Kaia is smart enough to know that there are forces working against her who want nothing more than to stop this task before it begins. The story follows several characters, including the main character, Kaia, through this incredible journey as they each experience unexpected twists and turns. Can Kaia succeed in a task that so many are against? Will the others come to her rescue or is this a journey she must complete alone? And what if she fails? Better yet, what if she succeeds?

This is a well-written epic fantasy story with many typical fantasy elements. Readers will love the descriptions of the landscape, the world building, the time period, and the intriguing characters. There are vivid descriptions and a lot of action that really elevates this story to the next level. The beginning was a little muddled as there were so many characters and events being explained and introduced, but it came together in a nice way that readers can appreciate. The ending is unexpected but satisfying and will most likely leave readers wanting more of these characters and this beautifully described land. Nice job by the author to keep readers' attention throughout the characters' journeys.
