In 1920, retired military doctor Cole Sterling and his fiancee, Aurora, visited Antwerp to see the Olympics. The couple encountered Aurora’s ex-husband, Marie-Henri Cartan, who killed her and disappeared. Cole swore vengeance and nursed his wounds while hoping for the right opportunity. Twenty-two years later, during the Caribbean War, the United States government sent Cole to Cuba on an assignment. He was to investigate if collaborators were aiding German U-boats to sabotage Allied shipping. Cole happened on Cartan in Havana, and he was on the German side. It was two strikes against Cartan, and Cole longed to bring him down. There was a clear battle line and two men of equal strength would slug it out. Find out who lives in Caribbean War by Claude Frazier.

Caribbean War by Claude Frazier was a riveting story centered on politics, culture, espionage, fantasy, romance, family, and more. The novel was fast-paced, with lots of action that kept me on the edge of my seat. Claude is a gifted storyteller with an ability to blend fact and fiction. I was impressed that the author told the story from the often-neglected Cuban point of view. The story was realistic with a brilliant plot. I loved characters like Maria, Cole, Zoraida and even developed a soft spot for Cartan. Aymee was also a beautiful character, and I felt she was more resilient than Roberto. Eugenics remains a sensitive topic because why should anyone play God? I also realized that nefarious activities thrived on foreign soil only with the help of indigenes. Caribbean War was a fantastic novel, and I’d love to read subsequent books.
