Six dogs - Spanky, Missy, Nikki, Duke, Whitey, and Thunder - and six cats - L.C., Bobbin, Mia, Belle, Izod, and Chico - speak about their lives in Cat and Dog Stew by Judy Carpenter. The story is about their friendship and how they all get together and support each other during situations that happen in their lives. They think their lives are going to be destroyed by an 'ay-lee-un' and they decide to gather all the neighborhood animals and hunt down the 'ay-lee-un' so that they can save the colony from their impending invasion. Will they succeed in their venture and save their neighborhood?

This book will charm all animal lovers and I like the way the author gives a personality to each animal, making them memorable to readers. The illustrations are adorable and breathe life into the story and characters, and they capture the camaraderie between the dogs and the cats perfectly. It is an excellent story for bedtime reading and will be good for interactive and fun reading aloud in classrooms and school libraries. Every dog and cat in the story will charm readers with their antics and behavior. The story is fun with all the situations the dogs and cats find themselves in. The message of friendship also comes out strongly through the story. Although lots of things like human interactions and situations happen to them, they are able to get through, keeping their friendship intact. A must-read for all dog and cat lovers!
