Caught In Cross Seas is the story of Harlie Cates and Clay Masterson. Harlie works with the homeless population of Angel Beach and one of her people has just been found dead. We learn pretty early on that this body isn’t the first found, giving a hint of the mystery to come. Clay Masterson is a country superstar on the hunt for his dead, but maybe not dead, father. Clay’s dad is wanted in connection with a murder in Montana that looks suspiciously like the current deaths in Angel Beach. Clay thinks Harlie is a stalker and, when he finds out she isn’t, he recruits her to help find his father - but he gets more than he expected. Sharleen Scott has written a jewel in this story, offering up mystery, small town flavor and romance.

There is a lot of story to uncover in Caught In Cross Seas from the mystery of who killed those people, is Clay’s dad really dead, and who on earth is Harlie, really? The answers for the most part were easy to figure out, but not so easy that you didn’t want to finish the story. The relationship that develops between Harlie and Clay is truly a joy to witness. Sharleen Scott created wonderful multi-dimensional characters that enhance the story. Clay embodies everything we love about a proper cowboy and watching him fall was a treat. These characters had to work for their happy ending and that made every word written worth the journey.
