Charis: Journey to Pandora's Jar by Nicole Y. Walters is an exciting fantasy book. Thirteen-year-old Charis Parks is a normal girl who leads a normal life. She goes to school, has friends and crushes, and is a bright student. Strange dreams keep interrupting Charis' sleep every night and she sees gods visiting her. The twist in the story happens when Charis gets fascinated to know more about Pandora's Jar after her Greek mythology class. She takes a journey to Pandora's Jar with the gods and her best friend Gabe to release Hope, the spirit trapped inside it.

The fascinating mix of intrigue and fantasy makes the theme original and refreshing. The Greek mythology theme adds to the appeal and magical vibe of the plot. Charis is a powerful character and the backdrop of school, teachers, and middle and high school students can be easily related to by school-going readers. The author has developed the school scenes very well. The main mysteries and subplots in the story, along with the Greek mythological theme, makes it an engaging read. The time span of the novel is five days and readers see a lot of excitement, fantasy and mystery happening in these five days.

All the characters, and Charis, have been well portrayed. The story is exciting to adult readers, too, because of the Greek mythology theme in the plot. Will Charis be able to release Hope from the Jar and bring peace to mankind?
