Have you ever known anyone with dyslexia?  Or perhaps you have some form of a reading problem?  Then you understand the pain of children like Charlie.  The pain often gets worse as they get older.  I recently spoke with a woman whose husband cannot read.  He lacks self-confidence.  He suffers from depression.  If only he’d had help when he was a child; someone to encourage him, someone to help him overcome his problem.

Charlie: A Boy with Reading Difficulties and His Dream will bring them hope. It will bring them self esteem. This should be required reading for teachers, students and parents. When a person struggles with reading often they lack self esteem because of embarrassment and teasing. People who cannot read are not different. With patience and help they can overcome their disability.

Vassiliki Plomaritou has held out a helping hand by writing this book.  I encourage those with reading problems to seek help and others to offer help.  I particularly encourage parents and teachers to recognize why a child is struggling.
