Chicken Little Investigates is written by Lois Wickstrom and illustrated by Francie Myon. It is a retelling of the classic fable of a little chicken who thought that the sky was going to fall on his head, so he created a panic among the other animals. This was a great opportunity for the more cunning ones, like the fox, to use the situation and catch their dinner for the day. Well, this is not the case in Chicken Little Investigates! In this version of the story, Chicken Little is a smart chick who solves mysteries that he encounters on his way. With the help of his equally smart and strong friends - Henny Penny the hen, Ducky Lucky the duck, Goosey Loosey the goose, and Turkey Lurkey the turkey - Chicken Little investigates different sounds of nature on this journey full of mystery and danger. The danger of what, you may ask? What could be more dangerous for our merry bunch than Foxy Woxy the fox!

As much as in the original story, Foxy Woxy, being a cunning animal as foxes usually are, tries to lure the merry investigative bunch inside his den, but what happens after that is a thing of beauty! The reader can't help but feel so exhilarated and happy while following the animals on their investigative quest. This contemporary retelling of a classic fable is accompanied by equally classic and lovely illustrations. The educational, scientific aspect of the story makes this book a fun and interesting read for children and anyone who feels like one. It takes the reader back to the good old days of growing up, reminding us of the freedom that comes with it, a feeling that everyone needs to experience every once in a while in life.
