Radio talk show host Val Virgo was interviewing Inspector Angus Duncan concerning the recent bombings that had killed several. During the show Val received a threatening phone call. Duncan begins investigating the threat. While Val was taking a bath his apartment is bombed. He survived but naturally has to move. The bombings must have a common factor but what could it be? Why was Val one of the targets? Val’s producer takes over the talk show and will not allow Val to return, unless he adheres to all her rules. Together Val and the Inspector search for the bomber.

The plot has great potential but falls short. The characters were interesting but lacked depth. Val needed more strength and forcefulness. Abby was sort of an airhead. I think her character should have been given more intelligence and finesse; after all she was sharp in dealing with finances. The mystery was excellent. It kept me guessing all the way to the last page of the book. I loved watching it unfold.
